Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: “It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

“These types of items being sold, typically online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.

“You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health.”
